My favorite plant is the cannabis sativa, is an herbaceous species of the Cannabaceae family. It is an annual plant, dioica, native to the mountain ranges of the Himalayas, Asia.
This plant is my favorite because it is a mysterious plant with many psychoactive properties and prohibited by Chilean law.
The Cannabis has been used as a medicine for more than 5,000 years. Thanks to scientific research, each year more is known about the many therapeutic uses.
You can also find several pictures of apothecaries serving customers dating back to the sixteenth century, when cannabis was part of any medical kit. Although the strong psychoactive qualities of the plant were not known to Europeans until the nineteenth century, the roots and leaves of the plant were used previously, in poultices to relieve inflamed, stiff or painful joints.
Interest in cannabis as a medicine is currently increasing in many areas of the world.
Canada and Uruguay are the only countries that have legalized the use and cultivation of this plant.
And at least in Uruguay since the implementation of the law. The Drug trafficking has been reduced by around 30%.
Unfortunately in Chile we are still far from legalizing the self-cultivation of this plant and taking the step we need to combat drug trafficking. And give back to this plant the image of a healing plant and not that of a drug plant.
